It's a beautiful building and the art was amazing. The audio tour was confusing. We often didn't know which room to be in until she started the description and history of the room.

Great visit. We liked being able to go anytime during the selected day. We went in the afternoon. Not very crowded. We did not really use the audio guide too much. A little clunky to navigate and our phone batteries were low. Would have preferred to use equipment from the venue vs our phones.

We were delighted with the palace. It was great and the entrance fee was justified. There is an elevator on request for people with walking disabilities. Very friendly staff.

We opted for a single entry ticket, but without an audioguide. At first, we had to queue for a few minutes, but soon the museum staff came to collect us with our special tickets. This type of ticket gives you access to the entrance courtyard, the many halls of power, and rooms displaying armor and weapons. You'll cross the Bridge of Sighs, which is a kind of tunnel, to access the prisons on the two lower floors. You won't be able to visit the rooftop cells where Casanova was held, or the secret itinerary rooms.

Doge Palace was amazing. The ceilings, artwork and carvings were beautiful. Palace was bigger than expected and not very crowded. The ticket got me in every section except the temporary exhibit. One of the few times when the ticket price was completely worth it.

Skip the line tickets were great as we had no waiting, just walked straight in. Easy directions to follow inside the palace for our self guided tour. If you want to see the art gallery then you have to pay a discounted fee of 2 euro per person. Overall loved the Palace & would recommend this activity as a must do in Venice.

We were able to bypass the very long queue and enter the palace immediately. The visit was really worthwhile. The staff at the Doge's Palace were very helpful, as my husband has a handicap, we were allowed to take the elevator, But the man in their office in Venice was very unfriendly!

Our tour guide was awesome. Our tour began at 8:00 and we entered Doge palace around 8:30 and we were the first group in and we had no crowds at all. Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew a great detail of history. On to St Mark basilica and although it was crowded inside we made our way to the 2nd floor and was able to take great pictures without any crowds. We then when outside for a beautiful view of the piazza. Was fantastic and highly recommend this tour and tour guide and company.

My wife and I, having arrived in Venice by train only ninety minutes earlier, at the height of our excitement already along the water cab ride to the landing on the Riva degli Schiavoni, at fifteen o'clock on May 18, 2025, move from the nearby hotel to the place agreed upon when we purchased tickets online for direct access to the magnificent monument. One of the efficient and courteous young people at the Tour Shop in Campo San Zaccaria escorts to the southern portico of the Doges' Palace the group of those who, like us, had booked the tour and entrusts them to the various experts, depending on the nationalities of those present. Professional and clear, our Italian guide begins by telling us about the symbolic value, for the city, of Mars and Neptune, whose statues stand in the courtyard at the top of the Scala dei Giganti: the two classical deities are expressions of Venice's power both on land and sea. We ascend to the Gothic loggia, then to the first piano nobile-formerly the Doge's residence-along the Golden Staircase, so named for the gleam of the gold-leaf coverings of its stucco decorations. We continue our visit to the second piano nobile and contemplate the sumptuous vaulting of the Sala del Collegio, embellished with paintings by Paolo Veronese, completed in 1578. Between the two figures of Mars and Neptune is painted the winged lion of St. Mark, symbol of the lagoon city. The "Venetian blond" that characterizes the hair of female figures is highlighted, for example in the allegory of Dialectic, shown in the act of weaving a spider web. "Venetian terrazzo" is the mixture of cement and stone fragments that has been used in the city for floors over the centuries; our guide tells us about it as we stand in the enormous Great Council Chamber. Here, on an entire wall we admire Jacopo Tintoretto's Il Paradiso (Paradise), completed in 1592, crowded with characters, painted - the guide explains to us - on a single 24-and-a-half-foot-long canvas, specially made to be woven by the master. The black panel in the frieze of the doges represents the "damnatio memoriæ" of Marino Faliero, who was beheaded in 1355 for having wanted to conspire against the city's patriciate, aiming at the establishment of a tyrannical regime. During the passage in the Bridge of Sighs - in which in the past the condemned from the court to the prisons called the Wells passed - our escort tells us about the escape of Giacomo Casanova in 1756 from the Piombi, cells located higher up, under the roof of the palace. I am convinced that it would have been difficult to receive a warmer and more competent "Welcome to Venice!" than the one Headout reserved for my wife and me upon our arrival in the Serenissima.

I can't complain regarding the art, and also the explanations where really useful and informative. But, the explanations are always so small, somewhere next to the art piece, and since there are so many people, it's hard and annoying to get there. And for me it's important to read it. There's so much space next to the paintings that you could use to display the explanation in a bigger font and also at a better height. Furthermore, temperatures are inconsistent across the rooms and halls.

When in Venice, a visit at Doge's Palace is a must. Booking Skip the Line: Doge's Palace Tickets and Guide Book from Headout made the experience very easy. The historic palace is magnificent and there are so many things to see inside (Great ceiling and wall paintings, old swords, armors and weapons). Also, you visit the prison which is connected with the palace with the Bridge of Sighs. It was an excellent choice to book these tickets and get the guide book too!

It was confusing that I had to go somewhere else to get the tickets when I used the official website to buy them, and I was being told that those are vouchers. At first I was told to wait in another line at the museum and then we were told to go somewhere else to get the tickets. Other than that, excellent experience, all the staff really polite and helpful.

Very simple online booking but although the details appear simple when put to use things start to be a little confusing. When on the reply WhatsApp you go to "View Tickets ",you are shown s QR code which i presumed was the entry ticket this was not the case and we were turned away from the entrance. I have to be clear that the reply did give instructions for collecting the actual printed tickets but i mistakenly believed that with the QR code they were not required. On trying to find the address given for the collection of the tickets the Google maps option given in the reply was helpful, an option i think more companies should adopt ,but a little more confusion occurred once again as we searched for the address not knowing that the actual location was a newspaper stand, not a shop or office. Overall quite happy the service although a little more detailed information would have been useful.

We had a ton of trouble finding the office to meet our guide. Google maps wasn't working well and we just kept going in circles around St Mark's Square. We asked military, regular police, and other shop owners for help but ended up finding the office 30 minutes after our tour departed for the Basilica. Thankfully, we were able to catch up to our party in the Basilica. For whatever reason, when going through the Doge Palace, those of us who were going on the gondola ride, had to leave the group and return on our own later to see the rest of the tour. The timing seemed to be too tight. The guide was great, but the timing was just off for the whole day. When we went on the gondola, the gondolier spent the whole time yelling at the other gondoliers and joking with them. It was like a bad Disneyland ride. We were one gondola after another just making a circle back to the meeting point. I think the only thing that was pointed out to us was where Mozart had stayed.

Giovana was the loveliest guide you could wish for. Her excitement, despite having likely done hundreds of these tours, was contagious. She paid great attention to detail while also ensuring that every person in the group felt included. The equipment quality was excellent, with clear audio throughout the tour. Giovana provided just the right balance of historical context and insights into current life and events. We loved every moment. Our gondolier was also praiseworthy. Despite being a young man, he was knowledgeable without being overbearing. Although we can’t recall his name, the boat was called ‘Luca,’ and he was stepping in for his father. A delightful experience with a charming young man.

The guide was excellent and everything was great until the end. When we went on our gondola ride we did not go by the bridge of sigh and the gondolier was on his phone the whole time. Not only was it bad enough that he was on the phone, he had it on speaker so we could hear the woman he was talking too. Missing out on the bridge and the phone ruined the entire experience.

The Tour Guy was the company we should have booked with - avoid Headout (a broker). The website on mobile when I booked put the wrong date - the Crowdsite glitch also happened and the site booked the tour time+day AFTER it already happened! HEADOUT REFUSED TO CHANGE IT! Luckily THE TOUR GUY CHANGED IT. AVOID HEADOUT. As for the tour, Venice is such a unique, magical place. Our guide was a lovely local Venetian, a professor-like lady and had tons of information - she was kind and very considerate. She gave us the basics of all we needed to know. I think we might have preferred a guide with more stories and less facts and who was a little more fluent in English - it was often hard to understand everything. Also, try avoid Italy in the summer, the heat is unbearable and we underestimated this. Bring lots of water and a fan or spray mist bottle. Crazy heat! Climate change not doing places like Rome and Venice any favours! The overall experience was the best it could've been, it was good.

A faire aveuglément !! (Ma compagne et moi avons la 40ène).

The ticketing experience was great. It was easy to get tickets and reserve what we wanted to do along the tour. Separating the walking tour and the guided tours ended up causing some confusion and our group for the guided tour was too large for the tour guide to manage in the crowds in the Basilica. She did an excellent job, but the company placed too many people in her group (she complained about it before we got started) and it distracted from the tour in several situations along the way.

Doing these tours in the evening is the best way to see these sites. The crowds were smaller and you get the light show in St Marks. When the glass mosaic tiles in the ceilings are lit up, it's breathtaking. We had a great guide who really looked after us.

The highlight of the tour was going up on the rooftop of the duomoand seeing the beautiful views of Milan. The tour of the inside of the church was interesting, but our guide was hard to understand at times and was fairly dry. Of course, the duomo is gorgeous and it was excellent to get more information about some of the details of the beautiful cathedral.

Our guide was absolutely wonderful, incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Venetian art, architecture, politics, and commerce. Tickets to both the Doge's Palace and St Mark's Basilica had already sold out by the time I thought to check, so I'm really glad I was able to see them this way. One tiny little thing - the meet up instructions said that the guide would be holding a particular sign, which they weren't, so I hung back for ages cause I couldn't tell which tour group was mine.

If you have limited time or dislike waiting, skip-the-line tickets offer a smoother experience.

How big of a difference is there between secret itineraries vs. standard entry?

The difference between the Secret Itineraries Tour and standard entry to Doge's Palace is significant and mainly thematic. Standard entry covers the main areas, focusing on the palace’s history, architecture, and artwork. In contrast, the Secret Itineraries Tour provides access to hidden rooms like Piombi and Pozzi prisons, Superior Chancery and the torture chambers - complemented by engaging stories and legends about the Venetian Republic’s justice system. This guided tour dives deeper into the palace's lesser-known past, making it a standout option for a unique and comprehensive understanding.

What is the maximum group size for guided Doge’s Palace tours?

The Doge’s Palace is accepting guided tour groups with a maximum of 10 guests.

Are my Doge’s Palace tickets refundable?

Cancellation policy for the Doge's Palace tickets vary with the particular type of ticket that you've chosen. While skip-the-line tickets can't be canceled or rescheduled, other city experiences like Venice Icons: St. Mark’s Basilica & Doge’s Palace Skip-the-Line Guided Tour can be canceled or rescheduled within the 24-hour window. Please check your specific ticket details.

Is the Doge’s Palace wheelchair-accessible?

Yes. Most of the Doge’s Palace is wheel-chair accessible. Only the Secret Itineraries, Armoury and Prisons cannot be accessed.

How long does it take to see the Doge’s Palace?

On average, visitors spend about 1.5 to 2 hours exploring the main areas of Doge's Palace. However, the duration can vary based on individual interests and whether you choose to explore additional sections or take guided tours.

Can I visit Doge's Palace with kids?

Yes, you can visit the Doge's Palace with kids, but keep a few things in mind for an enjoyable experience. Younger children (under 4 years) might struggle with the length and historical details of the tours, which can last over an hour. Some parts, like the prison stories and torture chambers, that are included in the Secret itineraries tours might be too dark for kids under 6 years. Plan for breaks in the courtyard or at cafes, and prepare the kids with some history and context on what they will see. With some planning, it can be an educational and fascinating experience for the whole family.

Can I visit the New Prisons with my standard Doge's Palace entry ticket?

Yes, your regular Doge's Palace tickets do include access to the New Prisons, allowing you to explore this dark chapter of Venetian history. But the older prisons (Piombi and Pozzi) are accessible via Secret Itineraries tour exclusively. The new prisons are connected to the Doge's Palace by the famous Bridge of Sighs. Do note that they are not wheelchair accessible
